Dr Brian Harris

Principal, Head of Department of Ministry and Practice, Applied Theology, Ministry and Ethics

Brian has lived in both South Africa and New Zealand and has successfully been the Senior Pastor of three churches, each of which grew dramatically. He is in demand as a preacher, speaker and teacher. Married to Rosemary, and with three children Nick, Amy and Jett, he has recently completed a PhD interacting with the thought of Stanley Grenz and exploring the nature and future of evangelical theology.


Dr Mike Parsons

Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research, Head of Department of Christian Thought, Systematic Theology, Church History

Formerly from the United Kingdom, Mike is regarded as one of Australia's leading systematic theologians. He has published widely and is a recognised expert in the thought of Luther and Calvin. Mike combines a keen understanding with a servant heart and a deep spirituality. He is married to Becky and they have two children, Christopher and Katy.


Dr David Cohen

Head of Biblical Studies, Old Testament, Worship

Formerly a professional musician and music teacher, David has had significant experience in church ministry and is a popular and creative educator. He formerly oversaw the lay training and professional development program for the Churches of Christ in Western Australia. David is married with two children and in August 2008 he completed a PhD exploring the Psalms of Lament and their use in a pastoral setting.


Evelyn AshleyDr Evelyn Ashley

New Testament and Greek

Evelyn is a country West Australian, growing up in the Kimberly, Goldfields and Wheatbelt. She has also spent a significant portion of her adult life in the Pilbara. Evelyn is a graduate of Vose Seminary and has spent a number of years in pastoral ministry. She is married to Chris and they have four adult children. Her PhD topic explores Paul's theology of weakness in the Corinthian correspondence.

Robert K. Clarke

Bob Clark

Pastoral Studies/Supervised Field Education

Bob has served the Baptist Churches in Australia since 1958, having pastored churches in New South Wales and Queensland before settling in Western Australia. In 1981 Bob accepted the role as General Superintendent of the Baptist Churches of WA - a role which he held for 20 years. Bob was one of the pioneers of Supervised Field Education in Australia. His contribution to this field was recently recognised when he was appointed a member with the General Division of the Order of Australia.


Dr Haydn Nelson

Theological Ethics and Apologetics

Coming from a background in education and law enforcement, Haydn has more recently ministered both as a church pastor and in leadership at the Bible College of Western Australia. He is married to Belinda and they have three children. He is a graduate of Vose Seminary and currently serves as Senior Associate Minister (Discipleship and Training) at Riverview Church. His passion is to articulate theology that speaks to the real world in a way that makes sense - that connects holy (what God says), head (what we think), heart (what we feel) and hand (what we do). His doctoral dissertation was entitled, "The Providence of God: A Trinitarian Perspective."


Dr John Olley

Academic Dean

After research in Physics, pastoral ministry in NSW and missionary teaching in Hong Kong, John and his family came to Vose Seminary in 1978, retiring at the end of 2003. His teaching and research has focussed on Old Testament and Missiology, with several published articles and books. At present he is writing a commentary on the Septuagint (Greek version) of Ezekiel. He is concerned that people see the Bible as being about the mission of God and his purposes for the world he has made, and the key role of his people. Prior to returning to Vose, he and Elaine spent six months ministering in Central Asia.

Dr Marc Chan

Director of Centre for Cross Cultural Leadership Development

Marc is currently coordinating the Cross Cultural Ministries at the Baptist Union of WA. His doctoral research work was in the areas of Textual Criticism and Synoptic Question based on the Passion Narrative. He is now passionate about training leaders in the Non-English Speaking Background (NESB) Churches and also making the mainstream churches aware of the various cultures forming part of the West Australian population. He is married to Brigitte and has two children: Christopher and Jeremy.


Neil Anderson

Evangelism and Mission

Neil Anderson trained in missiology and pastoral ministry and has served in pastoral ministry for 12 years. He currently ministers with Wagin Baptist Church in WA's Great Southern Region. He is undertaking Doctoral studies in Anthropology at the University of Western Australia. His passions include sports of all kinds and cross-cultural missions to unreached people groups. He is married to Jacalyne and they have 3 children.


Dr Richard Moore

New Testament

BA (UWA), MA (UWA), DipEd (UWA), BD (MCD), PhD (UQueensland)

Richard Moore was the head of New Testament at the seminary from 1979 to 2002. This year he will be teaching a unit in Laverton for the Seminary. Richard's publications include 'All Western Australia is my parish' : A centenary history of the Baptist Denomination in Western Australia 1895-1995. He is archivist for the Baptist Churches of WA and founder of the Baptist Historical Society of Western Australia.


Tania Watson

Developmental Ministries - Children's Ministry

Tania is currently the Executive Minister of South Perth Church of Christ's Children's Ministry. She is also on the Executive of the Church of Christ in Western Australia. Tania is a board member of KidsRUs WA (an inter-denominational network of children's ministry). She also lectures at ACOM and her passion is to see church renewal. Tania loves to drink coffee, read books, and watch movies. She is married to Neil and they have two children.


Andrew Duncan

Evangelism and Mission

Andrew is the Senior Pastor at East Fremantle Baptist Church and is also the state Co-Coordinator for Global InterAction. Formerly a carpenter, Andrew has had thirteen years of ministry experience in a wide range of settings. He has a passion for missions both locally and globally and is keen for Christians to become more effective and strategic as they join in God's mission to the world. Andrew is married to Janelle and has two children with a third on the way. He enjoys kite surfing, cooking, reading and hanging out with friends.


John Clapton

Chaplaincy

John is Senior Area Chaplain and Manager of Education and Training with YouthCARE. In this role he has sought ways to enhance training opportunities for those who work as chaplains in schools. John's background is as a Churches of Christ minister and a primary school teacher. He has also completed a Masters dissertation on issues related to the pastoral care of people in ministry.
