Undergraduate Degree Programmes

Vose is authorised by the WA Government Department of Education Services to offer a variety of degree and postgraduate programmes of the Australian College of Theology (ACT), a nationally accredited institution. These awards are internationally recognised (for full unit descriptions and regulations see ACT website).

Full-time courses are open to overseas students (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) No. 01052B).

Bachelor of Christian Studies

ACT Award

A three year programme (maximum nine years part-time) aims to provide a general theological programme to enable students to apply a Christian perspective to their personal and professional life. Each unit is one semester unless stated, a normal full-time load being four units/semester.

At least one year (32 credit points) of study in a non-theological field. This study would be part of an accredited non-theological degree at an Australian University, preferably done simultaneously with theological studies.

Required Foundation Units (24 points)

  • Formative Old Testament Traditions.
  • From Israel to Judea.
  • The Content and Setting of the Gospel Tradition.
  • The Early New Testament Church.
  • Foundations of Theology.
  • Early Church History (30-451) OR The Church from 1550 to Modern Times.

Required Advanced Units (20 Points).

  • At least two biblical exegesis subject (one from each OT and NT).
  • Doctrine of God and the Work of Christ.
  • At least one of:
    • Doctrines of Grace & Eschatology.
    • Church, Sacraments and Ministry.
    • The Continental Reformation.
    • Reformation Issues.
    • Theology Seminar.
    • Church History not taken from aboveAn independent study relating non-theological area to Christian Faith.

Electives (20 points).

Bachelor of Ministry

BMin

A three year programme (maximum nine years part-time) with a balance of biblical, historical, theological and practical subjects. Each subject is one semester unless stated, a normal full-time load being four units/semester.

Required Foundation Units (36 points).

  • Formative Old Testament Traditions.
  • From Israel to Judea.
  • The Content and Setting of the Gospel Tradition.
  • The Early New Testament Church.
  • Foundations of Theology.
  • Ministry Formation or Foundations for Youth Ministry.
  • At least two of:
    • Early Church History (30-451).
    • The Church from 1550 to Modern Times.
    • The Continental Reformation (Advanced level).
  • At least one semester of biblical language (two are required for Vose GradDipMin).

Required Advanced Units (40 Points).

  • At least three biblical exegesis units (at least one from each of OT and NT).
  • The Doctrine of God and the Work of Christ.
  • At least one of:
    • Doctrines of Grace & Eschatology.
    • Church, Sacraments and Ministry.
    • Reformation Issues.
    • Theology Seminar.
  • Supervised Experienced Based Learning (single unit taken over six semesters).
  • At least four subjects in Ministry and Practice (from at least two areas).

Electives 20 points.

Maximum ten units at foundation level.

Bachelor of Theology

ACT Award

A three year programme (maximum nine years part-time) with a strength in biblical, historical and theological subjects and the option of practical subjects. Each subject is one semester unless stated, a normal full-time load being four units/semester.

A minimum of four foundation units (16 points) must be completed before any advanced units can be taken.

Required Foundation Units (40 points).

  • Formative Old Testament Traditions.
  • From Israel to Judea.
  • The Content and Setting of the Gospel Tradition.
  • The Early New Testament Church.
  • Foundations of Theology.
  • Ministry Formation or Foundations for Youth Ministry.
  • At least two of:
    • Early Church History.
    • The Church from 1550 to Modern Times.
    • The Continental Reformation (Advanced level).
  • At least two semesters of biblical languages.
  • Required Advanced Units (40 points).
  • At least six biblical exegesis subjects (at least one from each of OT and NT).
  • The Doctrine of God and the Work of Christ.
  • At least two of:
    • Doctrines of Grace & Eschatology.
    • Church, Sacraments and Ministry.
    • Reformation Issues.
    • Theology Seminar.

Electives (16 points).
